The founders of MyStateOrYours (Caleb & Kris) are a couple of regular dudes...and just like most regular dudes they get tired of wearing the same re-hashed, mall clothing that everyones else wears. Well, one glorious day while attending a concert, the two sparked an idea for some shirts designs that would change their lives forever (how dramatic!). Let's see how it all began...
It all started when Kris (born and raised just outside Akron/Canton, Ohio) had the notion of taking the hysterical underground catch-phrase of "I Put the OH in Ohio" and printing it on a t-shirt as a joke. He went online as anyone else would and looked up the cheapest screen printer out there that would print just one shirt for him. He got it printed (at a stupidly high price of course) and received it in the mail about a week later. This thing looked like crap!! The printing was horrible...it looked like someone glued a piece of notebook paper to the front of a t-shirt!
Not discouraged by the horrific printing job, Kris was pleased because the phrase itself looked great on a t-shirt. So, that night he decided to mention it to his good friend Caleb while they were at a local rock show. Caleb was very into the concept, and thought it was funny. Yea, a lot of people could print one shirt with this phrase on it just for laughs, and many probably had. But Caleb couldn't help but think even further outside the box on this one...Now Caleb, being born and raised in Jerseyville, Illinois, has a ton of pride for his home State, the Land of Lincoln. What Caleb said next was about to change everything for the two boys..."What if we also made up a shirt that says "I Put the ILL in Illinois"?
Right then and there, MyStateOrYours was officially born! The concept of creating a strongly branded line of clothing printed on quality, sweat-shop free garments, based on the pride one has for his or her favorite State is what got My State Or Yours where it is today...making sick threads so YOU can represent!!
